Two Homes One Family

Child Custody Arrangements with Collaborative DivorceTwo Homes One Family is a unique program jointly offered by CPM (the Collaborative Project of Maryland) and the Jewish Social Service Agency (JSSA) that provides the Collaborative Divorce Process to qualifying families in Montgomery County, Maryland at an affordable cost.  In the Collaborative Divorce Process, participants focus their efforts on reaching a mutually-acceptable resolution outside of court.  The parties work with a team of professionals, including attorneys, financial specialists and mental health professionals, who provide the support, information and guidance the family needs to make informed decisions about their future.

More About the Collaborative Process

The Collaborative Process is a team-based approach based on a set of principles that can significantly change the dynamic between the clients by engaging them outside of the courtroom in an open, supportive, lower-conflict process to find shared solutions.  A central tenet of the process is a promise to reach a resolution without court intervention or threat of court intervention.

The parties work with their team of professionals to avoid the uncertain outcomes of Court litigation and to achieve an agreement that best meets the specific needs of both parties as well as their family as a whole.  The team also helps the parties learn new skills for more effective communication, conflict resolution and post-divorce co-parenting, so that they experience divorce as a transition rather than a trauma.
